Hi All, This is my first project post. A while ago i painted an Athearn RTR GP40 for my brother. It was originally CSX painted, but our passion is CN. Since CN's GP40's were retired years ago, so it was decided to paint it for IC, since they wander through our area every now and then, and this particular number because we'd seen it multiple times. As far as difficulty goes, it was pretty easy. New truck sideframes, new horn, removing the dynamic brake hatch (didn't have the right length non-dynamic hatch, so i cut one down to fit), and new bell (conductor's side). Also, it definately qualifies as a cheap build: the locomotive was on sale for $40, paint and decals i already had. Probable total was about $50. Microscale decals and Tamiya gloss black were used. One of these days, i'll get around to weathering it. Cheers, Peter.

Masking must have been a real bear --- just kidding. Seriously, it looks good.

Yeah, I've painted 3 IC locos (photos later), and the collective time spent masking them adds up to... nothing! Gotta love black-dip paint jobs.
Thanks for the comments,
Peter.

Nothing wrong with a clean simple paint job, it looks great.

Good "old" IC! Do you do the G also? Making us "old timers" look bad for not posting "project/photos" ! Keep'em coming!
