Time to jump in and get started even though my workbench setup will not be ready for a few months (Probably after the Christmas Holiday); I need to sell off a lot of baby equipment first to make room. In the meantime, I am in the taking inventory of what I have and research.
My first project will be a Union Pacific SD60M. I have a couple of RPP shells with frame and an A-line motor w/couplings. Do not know yet if I have any power trucks and should know tonight. I have a huge selection of detail parts and need to document them also. I did find my “EMD’s SD60 Series” book by Diesel era, so I will be studying the pictures to see what else I need to obtain. The first obstacle I noticed is that the Union Pacific had many variations through the production line of the SD60. I think the RPP shell has a mix of each variation so I need to pick a specific model and modify.
Goals:
Make the model as prototypical as possible
Smooth runner mechanically
Good paint job / decal application
Take many photos of progress
Dreams:
Install DCC decoder w/sound
Have ALL lights working as prototype including beacon and ditch lights
