Perry ,how hard would it be to make some casts of that fuel tank?I think Jay could help with that,I am sure some others would like a couple of fuels tanks like that for some projects? Those are sweet looking,Brian does superb work and I am glad you have those to continue where he left off..

If I can get permission from Brian I wouldn't mind at all. I respect it is his work and only with his permission would I allow it. Let me see what I can do...

Perry,
Now you have my attention, this as everyone knows is on my list of engines to build, I have been looking to build the tanks out of styrene but this will be so much better, I will be watching this build with great interest.

Gentlemen:
I did speak with Brian about using his mold and having it reproduced, however Brian kindly declined. We all have to respect it's Brian's work. However, I could provide the dimensions for those who would like to build their own.

I am going to follow this project with interest, as I someday want to model an Union Pacific ex KP GP39-2. The UP local which runs over here has an ex-KP GP39-2 on it. UP extended the fuel tank, and put a regular cab on it, plus a couple other things. Here is a picture of the UP unit with the "extended" fuel tank. -Andrew

As we all know, that would not be difficult to make; just some styrene and about an hour!

I've never seen a fuel tank like that before. Is this what you are making?

Perry,
I would be interested in the dimensions, looks like everything you picked up from Brian will be a masterpiece, I will be looking to do one of the Katy GP39-2 with the stepped roof. Please keep the pictures coming, my build might get started quicker than I thought!

Scott,
These and the GP30 along with the GP38-2's are what I am going to focus on. I had to shelve the Railflyer build until more product becomes available but I'll get back to it one of these days.

Speaking of those fuel tanks... I had the BNSF 2011 recently, and I couldn't help but notice the odd-shaped, high clearance fuel tank on it. rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=752111It looks close to the Kennecott tank, maybe NRE had one in their "parts box"

The Soo Line/CP has 2 ex-Kennecott GP-39-2's and generally run them together on a local out of the ex-Milwaukee Road Pigs Eye yard in St Paul. One has the high-clearance fuel tank, the other an EMD standard.

Hey Smoke....that local that goes by every day, wouldn't happen to be the "Middvale Tramp" by chance?
