Here is the first engine that I have painted with 100% acrylics paint! The only modifications were I replaced the number boards, and filled in the port holes. Erik

Now thats a nice looking engine. Is the paint out-of- the-bottom or Custom mixed?

Very nice E8, I wonder why they filled the portals? Great paint job, makes me less nervous to paint a locol 100% acrylic. I love how clean the color separation is.

Many railroads used plain panels when panels with portals needed replacement due to rust or collision damage. They could be made easily in the railroads own shops, and much cheaper as well. It wasn't unusual to see older E and F-units with one portal on one side, and none on the other. John Very nice E8, I wonder why they filled the portals? Great paint job, makes me less nervous to paint a locol 100% acrylic. I love how clean the color separation is.

Justin, Thanks for the comments. Working with the water base paint was not that bad. I liked how easy to is to clean up. One thing to keep in mind with the water base paint is to keep a blow dryer close by. If you think the paint is to heavy just hit it with the dryer and you are good to go. But I still love my enamel paints and will cry like a baby when the day the government takes them away. Andrew, Thanks for the comments and here are some more pictures. Erik

Wow!! I find it amazing how 70 years later (more or less) the classic EMD F/E unit shape still looks as good as it did back then. Great paint job!!
