I decided to get all of my locomotives out of their boxes for display a few days back.

Looks good Dylanviey, I too like to display my units instead of making them box queens. Glenn

Now that the kind of display the wife says,"Why do you need so Many of those anyway?". And my locomotives would only fill up maybe two shelves. Nice variety, looks like you have a good noreastern going there.

Now that the kind of display the wife says,"Why do you need so Many of those anyway?" Now, see, that is why you always keep some locos in their boxes. If you have a layout, always stash some away in staging or in the roundhouse. Then you rotate the locos that are in boxes to the shelf and those in the shelf to boxes (or from staging/roundhouse to the engine track and vise versa) that way the wife sees each loco (but not all of them at once). Then, when you add a new unit to your roster you just stick it on the shelf (or layout) like it has always been there. If she asks you if one of them is new you just say "You haven't seen that before?" and she'll shrug it off... "Yeah,, I guess I have... I don't know" and walk away.

Or (as hard as this may be), you can just buy locomotives from only one railroad (GASP! Self-restraint!).... that way the wife/girlfriend can't tell the difference! "Want to see my new engine, honey?" "It looks exactly the same as all the other ones!" "Why yes, yes it does......." ;D
