Here's a ex-Penn Central C425 that hasn't been patched "CR" yet. I started with a factory painted Atlas engine I relocated and installed the correct air horn, removed the vertical headlight and installed the correct horizontal one, and removed four out of the six class lights to better match the prototype. Added the ACI labels, repainted the top of the cab and weathered the engine.

I don't know Penn Central but I do appreciate a good looking engine. Nice job and welcome.

Very nice. How did you do the weathering and that faded black paint look?

Thanks guys for the comments! I weathered the engine using weathering powders. Before I weathered it i gave the engine an over spray of dullcote, this gives a rough surface for the powders to hold on too. I used a gray powder to get the faded look, working it into the surface till I got the look I was trying for. Then I used other earth, soot and rust colors to get the overall "weathered" effect. I did work from photos of the prototype, which takes some of the guess work out of where to put the dirt. Any more questions, I'll be happy to try and answer them.
