Seems to me someone made these conversion grills for the P2K GEEP 18 in plastic some time ago. Now I'm wondering if anyone makes a similar product in metal or photo-etch?? I'd like to convert a Sam / Oriental GEEP 18 to a 9 , and would prefer to do it with parts of a similar material. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think they were sold under Train Station Products as well.

I did see the Smoky Valley, But i swear I saw some DA old stock that provided the conversion as well, I already view what was left of the Old brass at LHS and nothing in what I saw there. Smoky Valley probably best way to Go.

You could always find a scrap Atlas GP7 shell and cut them off, theirs look nicer than the SV/TSP/DA parts (I think it was on here I read there was some affiliation with the companies at some point). Here's a shot of a set of Train Station Products grilles on a GP18 (some distortion because of the closeness):

Many aeons ago, I used the radiator grills from an Athearn GP7 to backdate a Proto GP18. It was a Nickel Plate unit and it worked rather well. I'm currently looking for photo etch brass or SS or ?? for this Sam project....if at all possible.

When you guys backdate your GP18's, PM me for the GP18 grills. I'll gladly make a deal for them! They are much needed by me

Train Station Products #138 became DA GR 2721, not sure if they are readily available.
