Justin,
It looks good buddy, but I want to make one suggestion and please don't take this the wrong way, a friend of mine suggested this and you will be amazed at how well it works, looking at you model I can see the brush streaks from the bristles, the solution you might ask??? Makeup brushes is the answer, go to walmart, target or wherever and get the small makeup brushes, the bristles are much finer than what is usually available in paint brushes and they are cheap!!!

I was thinking the same thing, I was thinking about makeup sponges actually, with some solvent to soften the look. I am not going to take anything incorrectly, like I said I was trying something on this one, infact in person you can still see the MP lettering. all I did on this so far is redecal and attempt weathering, freight cars is mostly what i have done, but they suffer from the same issue. Besides the headlight is wrong on this girl anyway.

Justin Looks like one I took photos of at Deramus back in 78 except it had the 4 stacks and the # was 4307 I think! Did you use pastels or dry brush? I'm hoping (these that word again) to get a little more active on this and the KCS modelers board. How did you get interested in the KCS? Paul Paul This was mostly washes and dry brushing, I did a little with pastels, but I need to soften it a bit, like Scott mentioned you can see the brush strokes. How I got interested in KCS, 1st.. I grew up in DeQuincy, LA 2nd it is what I saw most growing up. Originally I modeled SP, but one day I was looking at something on eBay, and I start researching, then I discovered the blondes, they hooked me. Then I started thinking about that great depot in DeQuincy. I bought a couple E8s and decided to slowly get what I could of KCS. Then I bought a highliner shell with thoughts of doing some real modeling(still have not glued a single piece of it). Then one day at the hobby shop I spotted the pair of F's decorated in WP, I bought them and created what I posted here, after I started viewing this site, I decided I could do a better job, so they are stripped, waiting on me. This switcher will one day reshopped. The photo I have a 1224 was shortly after it was built, I used a shot of 1312 for the weathering. Also it seems the roof was probably silver and the quad stack, along with the headlight to one day be corrected.

I saw that, but I saw #1224, made me want to cry, I think I create something unique and low and behold, the manufacturers Finally start doing KCS, Walther's doing the F's, granted not totally correct, but how easy is it to cut and replace some horns, renumber, and of course replace the numberboard with the DAs as they look more correct. Alas, I did not start modeling to buy what was on the market, pre-decorated, so I will continue to attempt to model what is not available. This one will still retain her number, unless she get a coat of Red or white and becomes 4 thousand series, but that is too new for my world (the tiny world anyway). Thanks Paul

Freshening up the grime, Scott is dead on, those makeup brushes are great.
