Vince, Robert, and Eric Thanks for the comments, I am thinking about stripping this and the B unit and starting fresh, I started them before I found this site, I had the detail parts but I want it to be worthy of this site.

Vince, Robert, and Eric Thanks for the comments, I am thinking about stripping this and the B unit and starting fresh, I started them before I found this site, I had the detail parts but I want it to be worthy of this site. You don't need to worry about that...ANY work that someone wants to display photos of is worthy of this site! I do think that stripping it down in order to avoid having to match the paint is a good thing...I'm sort of partial to applying as much detail as possible THEN painting my locomotives. That's just my personal preference, though. I honestly don't think your paint job looks bad at all, so if you have the same paint that you originally did the units in, you can ad the details and touch up the paint to match. I'm looking forward to seeing more shots of her, and the B-unit! Thanks Robert I look forward to seeing more shots of her also, after all it makes me happy to get some stuff completed. For me, after seeing it online, I can see the paint built up more than I prefer, so I will likely strip it and start over, I was so anxious to have a Blond I had to get paint on her, matching the paint will not be hard, that is all Krylon shake and shoot, so color matching would be easy. All I did was sand all the WP markings off and prime white over the silver base, so their is 4 layers of paint in some areas, and it seems thick to me. I got the Detail West Detail set late, and I think having the hood step on the nose might look better painted as a unit, as opposed to matching up. I was very happy the way the black over yellow turned out. As far as the B unit, I had a portion that was an issue with compatability of paints, the entire side crazed when I dull coated, I managed to save it, but next round, a full week of paint curing, so the paints do not react with one another. Besides the second "A" on Kansas looks a bit jacked up.

The paint is gone, I have a few stubborn spots that would not come off, soooo I bought an air eraser at harbor freight, and some baking soda, good bye stubborn spots, I would not want to strip a shell using just the air eraser, but it sure is nice getting in the nooks and crannies I started at 40 psi and then increased, seems to work best at about 70 psi, slight etching but nothing that is taking the details away, but once etched I would not want to try to strip her down again, the paint is going to stick tight in those places.

Justin Hope I catch you before you paint the Yellow! On the cab roof stop the yellow in a line across the roof at the aft side of the cab entry door seam.

Thank you Paul, good catch, no paint yet, that was something I was wondering about, right now she is still in the buff, I am going to replace the fans with some Detail Assoicates ones, I appreciate your input as always.
