Here is a Tyco box car I did some work on years ago, removed the crummy trucks, and modified the bolster to mount sprung trucks, and added cushion couplers, I also remove and PK2 33' metal wheels, the ladder rungs and grabs where shaved off and replaced with (custom made) lol...... wire I had laying around, then took the Model paint to it and pastel chalks, also used a gel pen to renumber it, I use to think the number looked awful, but with all the ways people are weathering and numbering stuff today, it don't look so bad.. But anyway, it;s weighted to specs and this car runs without a hitch no matter how long a train you stick it in or where. I believe the other photos of this car can be seen here, never used this link from bucket before thought I'd try it out. pbckt.com/sd.faQ

Looks good, Larry, but if you are not happy with the lettering, try doing a paint-out of your old number (color doesn't have to match, as long as the background color contrasts with the re-stencilled numbers) and use decals to re-number the car.

Hey Larry,
Nice Job. I have about 5 of those same cars; all with the same number. I always said I'd modernize them, but... I'm now thinking about stretching some boxcars, which is why I came to this section. BN stretched many of their 40' cars to 50' and 50' to 60'. More recycling by the BN to keep a modeler busy!
