Those Athearn Genesis units are so nice looking, I've got a few of them, now just have to get my voodoo done to them! Please update us with photos when you're done

Well, I was just at the hobby store and found out that the SP 2724 had been "speed lettered"! That totally changes the plans. I now will be renumbering the unit to a number that did not get relettered. This will be fun!

wow, the red on that prototype is bright compared to the tired grey paint. I do believe that RTR is truely amazing, now if only they would do some late 60's in KCS and I win the lottery, I would know what to do with my time.

At first I thought it was already 'done' too. But the M.U. cables and air hose did look suspect. I'd even keep the uncoupler bar! Then when I read it was a new Athearn switcher it all made sense. That's the only loco I've bought and said I don't think I'll do much to it, and even so, not for some time.

I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but on these units and all the MP15AC's I have seen form Athearn, they have the mu air hoses backwards! The longer hose, MR line, should be on the inner side, close to the coupler. I think with a little work they can be reversed without breaking them apart, but it is still just a little weird. I have not seen this repeated on any of the other units that they have brought out with the mu air hoses added.

Perhaps you can swap sides and get them right?

Well, bad news. This unit has found another owner..... not by my will though. Someone decided that they needed it more then I did and so it is now elsewhere. I will be looking to acquire another unit. So until then, no voodoo.
