Hi all,
this is my first thread here and I hope I can share my projects with a couple of folks, who are interested in the same type of diesel locomotives than I do....F-units.
Almost one year ago, I bought an Intermountain HO model of an Alcogoma Central FP9 (first pic). Shortly after the first examination of the model, I had to realize, that I had to change some certain features and had to add some details.
Despite I haven't finished the loco yet, I thought it would be a good time to post it here, showing it off to the "censorious eyes" of the experts here.
The most important part was the move of the tank to the center between the trucks. I haven't solved the problems, which were caused by relocating the tank (e.g. fuel filler & gauges.....)
A similar project, I' m working on is a VIA FP9, however this will be a seperate topic.
Thanks for looking Franz

Sharp looking unit! Nose grabs: the one thing on F-units I despise drilling for. That unit looks to be riding a little high. There was a post on the Atlas forum about lowering the shell on Intermountain F's to give it a more realistic stance. I've done it on my IMRC FP7 with pleasing results. Oh, if you don't operate with trip pins on the Kadees, I'd also recommend some 58's, at least one on the front. Improves the look quite a bit.

...yep....I agree with you. All my Intermountain FP's (AC, VIA and CP) look the same way and I'd be very grateful, if you could let me know how to lower the shells (or the frame respectively front trucks)....and I' ll also take that recommendation to use Kadee's 58's.
Many thanks Franz

Great looking model Franz! The E/F units have turned into my favorite models to build. Like Mrdan mentioned above, the grab irons on the front of these engines are a pain to put on. The curves make it almost impossible to get them on straight. You did an excellent job putting yours on though. Can't wait to see more of your work.
Andy
