Here is an interesting unit which came through Cherryvale a while back and ended up around the Oklahoma City area. This particular engine is an ex-Santa Fe unit and before becoming the WAMX 1004, was owned by Midwest Locomotive Works. Originally a GP7, it is now classified as a GP10. This was also the unit I took measurements from for the Topeka Cab and Low nose project I'm working on. I spent about 6 1/2 hours photographing and measuring this thing. I am about half tempted to model this unit as it is right now because of the interesting paint scheme. Hope you enjoy! Perry

Excellent shot, Perry. A neat feature to model would be the DB grid area. Probably would take two tubes of Squadron putty.......BTW, I could not get the "prototype" section of your web page to come up. Showed URL error (bummer).

Thanks Robert! The prototype section is still in progress. I have already done one of those blanking out the db section. This was more of a test than anything with my test Topeka cab. I cut out the grille section and fit styrene in the opening then shaved and sanded it smooth. Perry

Great looking Perry! I want to see more. I have several Topeka cabs I have been doing different little tricks with my self. Any way, have you considered replacing those side frames with Athern? Notice there is nothing but open air under the hanger arm... personally, I hate those P2K side frames. Thank God they you can fit Athern on there. David

David,
I plan on replacing all of my sideframes with Athearns, this was just a test bed for more serious modeling.
