I took my girlfriend (who has never before seen an operating steam locomotive in her life) down to Lancaster last weekend for a taste of some soot and coal dust. ;D I took about 85 pictures over the course of four hours. For starters, here's one that I Photoshopped a bit (the original color picture is below): Original: Another shot, taken seconds earlier: You can see where they painted out "Norfolk & Western" and put "Strasburg" back on the tender: Getting ready for the first run of the day: Freshly painted: I've got more (along with some from the RR museum) if you guys want 'em. Oh, and my girlfriend ACTUALLY enjoyed herself (as in, she wasn't just saying it to make me happy)... but she wanted a shower as soon as we got home! ;D

the sepia-tone photograph first out is outstanding...I like it better than the color shots...for some reason to my eye, steam looks better in Black and White... It seems almost unholy that the diesel switcher is painted NYC style...in the heart of PRR country, but I guess that's the lineage of that locomotive.

They have started a practice of painting all of their locomotives into the scheme of their predecessor roads, but replacing their names with "Strasburg". For example, all of the lettering on #475 is N&W style, and their ex-PRR 44-tonner is painted Brunswick Green but says "Strasburg" where the word "Pennsylvania" should be, in PRR's font.
