whatever happened, make sure you have the right amount of resistors if you're not using a board replacement. Even if you are, make sure you're using the correct bulbs.

Are you sure the motor was isolated? The prongs on the bottom cut or bent up? Agree! Bend up the clips or cut them. Also, tape the frame below the motor with electrical tape. I also paint it with cheap thick black craft paint! Then I apply the electrical tape. Prevents any touching period. Also, ditch the digitrax decoder for something else. LOL

Sorry, but I'm through with Digitrax decoders.
TCS is the only road outside of Soundtraxx I go now.

I would of went with TCS and NCE if I was doing my own layout but belonging to a cluband us just switching over to DCC from DC at the price I got them I aint going to complain I paid about $16 per for the 163s and $12 for the 123s so. between the members and what was bought for the club to uprade we had about 15000 tie up

TCS are cheap, they are in the same range! I believe most brands are as well.
I've been into DCC for over 10 years, in all that time I've used almost every brand you can imagine. I'd rate the decoders in the following order
1.)TCS 2.)NCE 3.)Soundtraxx
