Indiana Southern RR bought in the early 90s one 4axle slug of Seaboard Sytem and set it as ISRR 5215 in operation. In the book "Diesel Detailing Projects" by Kalmbach is a construction manual based on parts of the old Blue Box Athearn U33B. I could get two undec shells of this model. Today they have arrived and I agree to start with the slug because other projects are still waiting for parts. Here first photo after cutting of the neede parts from the two shells In the background you can the the rest of one shell. The two frame halves have still to be precisely cut to length and stuck together. And the chassis has to be completed by using plastic strips. Then a "few" details and the shell of the slug would be ready. Unfortunately, it will be only a dummy, because the shell is very flat. Here's a current picture after the first grinding orgy More pics @ Uncle Jay: This is the model where i need the Athearn frame for.

The middle section is a simple square box, so i can use .040 sheet.

I was able to work a little at this project. The first nose section is sanded and brought to size. Unfortunately one measure in the book was wrong, so I had cut the part to flat. I had to add 2mm. And the first new detail, a grill, was added The second nose section was brought to size too so now i have to sand it. After that, i have to add the middle section, a simple box, a bit smaler than the nose sections. For this pic i put the trucks under the frame so it looks more complete as it is now.

Nice! If you haven't completely finished this project, there are motors made more narrow that could be used in this type of loco if you want. Even an N gauge motor would be something, just to help pull the weight, -it'll never be alone right!
