Well, progress has been really slow but at least I got the track in place, somewhat. I was hoping to be further along by now but Ill take what I can get. I got all the track placed temporary and fitted so now all I need to do is get it glued down, then I can start the scenic stuff. The track isn't 100% smooth but Ive ran the engine and a car over it and neither seem to have any problems. Hopefully when I start the scenery things will go a little quicker, I'm anxious to get it up and running.

Mathew, Layout looks good so far. I know you want to get trains up and running ASAP but I would advise taking your time during the track laying phase. Make sure you have the track as near perfect as you can now. Its easier to fix the track now that after you start adding scenery. Good track will make or break a model railroad, or a real railroad for that matter. Keep us posted on your progress.

Did a little more tweeking on the track and for now, I feel that its as good as I can get it. Ive got the track glued in place now, just have to give time for the adhesive to fully cure. Then the next step is to do the parking lot, road way, and ballast. So things may be slow until I get those resources gatherd.

looking great, I too would advise to make sure track work is bullet proof, no sense in rushing to completition and then later hating the way something is. Regardless, looks great I need to find the time and finances to get where your are, congratulations on the progress.

I'm too nit picky to use those kind of turnouts ;D, what does the layout look like in the other direction.
Dude, the space in between the tracks in the yard could have service roads in them.

It used to be Id make a table, then get rid of it, make a table, then get rid of it. Not this time. Its really slow getting things done but I keep doing little by little until I get to where I want.

Yea, I dont like those turnouts either but I went with them for the sake of cheapness lol. The yard didnt go exactly how I wanted it to as far as the space between the tracks but it works - This is my first layout so Im doing things kinda in the dark on how to and whats supposed to be but its a work in progress as well as a learning experience. Considering the other side is butted up against the wall, Ill try to get a picture in the other direction. At the moment Ive got tools and other items scatterd around on it so Ill have to get it cleaned up first lol. I

I kinda figured that was the case, they don't take up too much real estate either, but I suspect that your railcars will be wobbling unrealistically through them. ;D

I had planned on getting the Caboose Industires ground throws in the beginning but have yet to do it. Right now the only updates I have is Im still working on doing the paved areas, I had one portion done already, didnt like how it turned out, so I chipped it up and now Im re-doing it. Im using woodland scenice smooth it for the paved areas. Ill try to get more pictures up as soon as I can but here lately there hasnt been much progress, got to get the other important matters tooken care of first.

I have not used smooth it, I have made roads with sheet wall mud, it sands great and can be colored with Walmart acrylic paint as it is mixed. Because I am working on modules so I am using sheet plastic. First layout, goes up and down, do what feels right, I too have started with what I can afford only to realize that the turnout I chose was not quite what I needed, but forced it anyway. Matthew it is looking good, I have not posed anypoto, becasue I feel I can make the finished product hide all the oddities of my methods, lol.
