Well, sorta... The story as I know it is BNSF was renumbering a batch of units while simultaneously retiring yard goats. Well, 1914 was deemed not ready for retirement, at the same time its number was reassigned to another unit. So, short of digging through stacks of "open" numbers for the locomotives, the first 1914's reporting marks were changed (even on its digital card) to GN which it will carry til its retired. rrpicturearchives.net/locoPicture.aspx?id=124838

Interesting concept, I've seen photos of other BNSF equipment lettered for GN.
The UP has been doing this for quite some time now, I know of a few SP 40T-2's that where lettered for WP and nearly all of the Golden West Service cars have been relettered from GVSR or VCY to DRGW, SSW and SP.
Really neat to see BNSF relettering stuff for the Great Northern!
