Deez,
a good indication of an easily be overlooked detail.
But I saw another detail, that is difficult for me to see - the exhaust stacks. I never saw such before. Do you have better pic of these parts ? Is there a detailing part of them ?

The C&O SD18's do have a different set of exhaust stacks. I have seen them on other locomotives before but dont know what type they are or if there is any available in HO for us. The SD18's I'm modeling will use the standard EMD stacks. Joerg, I happened to have an old Proto GP18 laying around and I was checking out the intake and radiator grills on it. Someone on Jim Six's RPM forum mentiond to me that these could be used to make the later SD18 radiator grills. Well whoever it was, he was right. Other than needing to be lengthened they're damn near a perfect mach with excelent detail. The trouble is that I only have enough to do one SD18. I cant seem to find these parts readily available so I guess I gotta buy another cheap GP18 to do another. Kinda sucks. I'll show pics of the grills in abit.

Any further progress on this SD-18? If you do a google search it brings you here.
