i am having issues with my tsunami tsu 1000 sound decoder and i am at the end of my rope with it. it just wont play well with others. no matter what i do i simply cant get it to speed match or consist with any other decoders. the slow speed control is just not there. i cant seem to match any speed curves with other locos. the decoder is fitted in an athearn sd50 ready to roll model. i have tried consisting it with my proto 2000 gp 38 fitted with a tcs a4x or my ready to roll athearn sd 38 with a digitrax dh 123 decoder. the slow speed controll is less than desirable. i have tried setting up the hyper drive and spent hours setting up user speed tables as well as modifying cv 2 start voltage. cv 3 and 4 dont seem to work the same as any other decoder i have. can anyone help in getting this delinquent decoder back under control.i can consist the sd 38 and the gp 38. so the issue is with the soundtraxx decoder.

Dan, Let me ask you the following.
-Have you done a hard CV reset on the decoder? -Have you ran the engine for a long period of time to just break it in? (was it broke in or new) -Have you pulled that Tsunami and tried a test with a TCS or Digitrax decoder?
I would try these options first. I had a engine (athearn) that wouldn't run well at low speed no matter what decoder I put in it, but it ran ok in just DC. So it is possible it could be the engine (reason I ask if you ran it before)
If all else fails, take it back to the hobby shop or send it back to Soundtraxx....

I would agree to trying a hard reset. I had one that when I reset it set the start cv to make it take off like a rocket though. I redid the speed table after the reset and worked like a charm. If that does not work document what you have done and send soundtrax and email to see if they want you to send it in for repair.

i did a hard reset last night and no different. the unit was broken in and ran well on dc before decoder was fitted and used the digitrax decoder in it before the sound traxx one. i have had the soundtraxx decoder in the sd38 and it did the same thing it is doing now. i just asumed it was the mech in the sd 38 but as soon as i switched it for the digitraxx it was like a swiss watch.i know the slow speed in the athearn wont match my proto but should be better than it is now.

SUCCESS!!!! after following those instructions i can now crawl along at super slow speed and best of all i can now consist with my proto and sd38 with the digitrax and tcs decoders. thank you all for your help i was starting to think twice about the tsunami decoders. not anymore. even in consist it runs super smooth and the more load the better it runs.
thank you all Dan
