I hear a lot of people on this site saying great things about these Railmaster speakers and I have no experience with them. I have been installing some QSI High Bass speakers and getting good results with them, so I am wondering...
Has anybody done a side by side test of the QSI HB speaker versus the Railmaster speaker? What did you think/notice/like/dislike?

YES, and the Railmaster speaker beats any of the other "High Bass" speakers.
Having a properly ported speaker makes all the difference, even with the same speaker cone itself.

There is a difference in the last notebook speaker I bought, versus any of the railmaster speakers. Sure they are for other things, but lets not confuse a enclosure with "relief" and a "ported" bass speaker!

OK, I misunderstood you.
I've been looking to see if I can find the enclosure itself, but have had little luck.

Cajon, we are speaking of the ported enclosures, what you mention are just the basic "sealed" enclosure.
Speaking from experience as an installer, you don't want a "sealed" environment in this type of application. Ask Jay about this, there are only a handful of real speakers that operate in a "zero pressure" environment....

Our bass reflex ported speakers work great. No hassle on putting the speaker in an enclosure. We have the high bass speakers for those that prefer them. Sound is relative to each person, one important factor when putting sound in your engines is to do it in your layout room. If you put the speakers in an tune the sounds at your workbench the sounds are going to be different in your layout room. If you need any help or advise let us know. BTW our speakers are custom made to order. Jeff Smith RailMaster Hobbies Lakewood CA www.railmasterhobbies.com

Is there any hope of getting a shorter (in length) Bass Reflex speaker? I use the Medium as it is perfect for the GP/SD type motors, but the length of it would be something I would love to see shortened up. I do remove the ears, but a few of us discussed this issue. I know it will take tweaking of the enclosure for the accustics to work, but I was more curious then anything.
I use the bass reflex ported speaker on all my engines and love the sound, but in some cases its tough to fit it.
