Well this was my first attempt ever at painting an HO model. I picked up this P2K GP60 shell a while back at a trainshow for $5. I eventually tracked down a GP60 frame, but the trucks and fuel tank were black. On the EMD Demo units, the trucks were silver and the fuel tanks were blue. I bought some Tamaiya paint and did the trucks up in silver and the fuel tank in blue. I'm pleased with the results, but the blue I used for the tank is too light compared to the P2K blue. I picked up some darker blue today that should be a much closer match, hopefully I'll repaint the tank in the next week or so. But for now, I'm pleased with my first job.   |

You could spray some weathered black on the drivetrain and fuel tank. Looks nice.

First attempt or not, I'd say you're off to a great start!

ya you off to a good start. In the beginning, once you do a couple things even unrelated to other tasks you get the feel for this. It's addicting though!
nice job on the antenna if that wasn't already on there!

I was looking at a pair of factory painted P2K demos last week and your paint job looks as good as or better than factory Jonothon  Just an FYI, I didn't paint the shell, just the trucks and fuel tank. The shell is factory paint. I need to get a picture of it now that it's complete....... |

I agree with Jay, add black paint into the mix, if you think the tone is too dark, then you can add in a bit of white, and I mean a small bit.
