This is a GP15-1 that I am weathering for a friend of mine. I've always wanted to replicate the inordinate amout of rust that the iron brake shoes gave off. It is a stock Walthers P1K GP15-1 with DW plows, mu hoses, cab signal box, etc... Weathering iss nothing more than ordianry walmart craft paints. It's not 100% what I'd like, but not bad for my first try.

That looks great! I've always wanted to try and replicate the large amounts of rust and soot that acumulated on the roofs of older Conrail power, this might give me the motivation to try!

Very nice job you did there... I saw an article in Railmodel Journal on someone else who did that kinda weathering on some Conrail engines.... I have that article somewhere.... Nice job though....

Christian, if I may, fine job--add a bit more orange-red rust, the photo makes it appear a bit darker than my memory! ANd yes--that brakeshoe dust was on EVERYTHING with steel shoes back then!(even when I hired on with them in 96)

Kris, thanks for the tip! It looks darker than it really is.
