I finally got around to taking some pictures of my OTTX flat with a Cat Lexion 480 combine load that I've been working on. The Intermountain OTTX car is generally used for farm equipment, while the MTH flat is the HTTX prototype that is used for construction equipment. As for the load, the Norscot models just don't look quite right to me, like they should be in a sand box. I settled on using a old Kibri combine kit that I picked up on ebay. Walthers sold this same kit too at one point, but I'd been looking for the Kibri kit since it has the correct Cat decals. I don't believe I ever seen these Lexion combines shipped by rail, the railroads have done a good job of dumping the farm equipment business, shipments of tractors and combines to local dealers are fairly rare these days. I think I'm going to change the weathering on the flat car somewhat and add some hydraulic lines to the combine before I declare it officially done

We just added a customer that is starting to ship Hay bailers and they have plans to ship combines. I actually started a model of one of the modified flats with the new style brake wheel and have the same type of tractor. Its going to be a massey-ferguson.

Nice flatcar and load combination. Combines look good whether in the field or just headed there.

That is a Superb Job. I especially like the work you put into fitting the load with the chain binders. That really makes it stand out in my book! Personally, I like the weathering as is

Absolutely outstanding model! I bought two of those Kibri kits back in 2002, now this may give me the motivation I need to bust them out! Wait, I've ten billion other things to finish first, geez...

Wow! That does look really nice!! I really like combines and heavy farm equip. loaded on flatcars too. The detailed chains look great, too.
Now, am I the only one that after seeing a big 'ole combine, always thinks of that great scene in Steve McQueen's movie "The Hunter" where McQueen chases then runs over the bail jumping, dynamite throwing, brothers with a combine after they attempt to steal his rented Trans Am? "WHERE'D HE COME FROM?!?!"

Very nice car! I have a simular flat with John Deere farm tractors on it with chain hold downs.

This reminds me of a local that I used to work. It was in the Moline and Rock Island, IL where both IH/Case and John Deere had their combine factories. The combines were generally High/wide loads. Keeping that in mind, that may add interest to operating sessions. Make up places where this load can't meet or pass another train.
