Stan, I had the same concerns as you about the brightness, however, I am installing a very large resistor which will cut the brightness down. I will be hooking all of the ground and/or step lights together and get a resistor value for what I will need. It will vary on a every model depending on the number of lights. The Clear Orange paint will give them a "sunny white" appearance but like I said, I didn't have any on hand and I ordered some today. No one produces this LED in "sunny white" as of right now, but that could change in the future. Ngineering buys their LED's and if I catch wind of a sunny white one, I'll buy those. These are the 0402 style LED's and the 0604 are the smallest right now in the sunny white. And to answer your question Stephen these will be on a separate function. Perry

That's really cool! I just modeled steplights using fiber optic. I drilled out the steplight castings and glued in the fiber optic cables...ran all five lights off of one LED.

Thanks for the interest! However, I'm right in the middle of moving so I can't post pics for a few days to a week or so...just too busy and I've already packed the drive those pics are on. I'll post what pics I have when I'm able so check back on this thread in a week or so. Basically, I used one LED. I made a little housing for it out of styrene. I glued the step/truck lights in place on the shell with the fiber optic already glued in them...with more length than I needed. Then I mounted the LED in it's housing and taped it to the inside top of the long hood. Then I ran each fiber from it's casting to the housing, trimmed to length and glued in place in the housing. I used 5 minute epoxy on the fiber optic.
