Hey Guys, Great to be on the forums! I was hoping to get some help today from anyone who has their own fictional leasing company. I have a 2'x8' piece of benchwork build that I'm waiting to fill up. Unfortunately, I can't start a layout because I'm going to be moving out in about two years and I feel that it would be a waste to build it then tear it down so fast. So my question is, how do I go about planning this locomotive leasing company (as far as a trackplan)? I might have a small extension of the piece of benchwork that I will use as an area for a car shop as well. I would appreciate any help I could get!
I plan to call this leasing company the Phoenix Locomotive Corporation (PLCX) based in my hometown of Phoenix Arizona just outside of Mobest Yard. The company will specialize in leasing, buying, selling and rebuilding locomotives. As of now I have quite a few locomotives ready for superdetailing!!!! I can't wait to get started and I look forward to hearing from you guys! Thanks, Chris PS: This will be in HO Scale.

One thing nice about running a Leasing Co. is that you can put your layout anywhere, as leasing companies don't own any track, just loco's and/or freightcars. With 2'x8' I would be looking at doing some sort of diorama or switching layout. This could then be incorporated into a larger layout at a later date.

Check google earth for McDonald Ohio. This is the home base of Larry's Truck & Electric (LTEX). They have junk locos and parts everywhere. It is an old steel facility near Youngstown, OHio that they purchased because it had lots of track and some buildings that had space for painting and rebuilding of locos. So a retired or abandonded plant of some sort is perfect for making this facility. You can them buy any factory painted loco and patch out for your first units to get you going.

Thanks for the responses guys! I never thought about checking out LTEX on Google Earth but I'm sure that'll give me some ideas. Thanks again for the help and I'll be sure to keep you guys updated.

Hi guys, Thanks again for the responses. I was just thinking that I would freelance the track plan and just really do a yard with a few buildings thrown (and of course lots of scrap locomotive parts). Thanks, Chris
