In looking at pictures of the SDP40 I have been working on I have noticed an interesting arrangement for the brake cylinders on the trucks. They are low mounted but are located in between the wheels as opposed to mounted outside of the frame. I have attached a photo link from www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1318996I figure worse cars I can cobble something together out of the Kato frames I ave but if there is an easier way I would like to try it. Thanks all in advance!!

Greg, It looks like we'll both be following Brian's instructions for the trucks. From the pictures you've posted you'll be running long before me. Robert's comment about Kato having low mount brake cylinders got me thinking and Walther's 2006 catalog shows them. Maybe you avoid adapting the Smokey Valley parts by going direct to Kato or finding a second hand unit. Just a thought. Steve

I have a set of Kato low mount trucks I'd be willing to swap with someone for the high mount versions. Let me know if interested. Brian

I used the Smokey Valley sideframes in my SD-40 build. I didn't realize until now that I forgot to mention that. Thanks for helping with that suggestion Robert.
