If anyone if interested, Bowser has the old Stewart RS-3 Ph. I, II, and III for sale on their website. I believe they were the only company to do Ph. II and III bodies(beside brass). I ordered mine on Tuesday and got them today. Now I can do B&M and MEC RS-3 ph.III> . They said they are working on a drive for these bodies.

That is Real good news about the kits.BUT !! Before you get the airbrush out. There is one Major thing. If you look at the roof contour on these units They are WAY off ! The Sides are SWEET & can be used to transplant on Any of the other units be it Athearn,(MDC) Hobbytown, Atlas. Forget the the rest and just use the sides. Unless ofcorse they have fixed them in the last 20 years. Jim

The roof line doesn't matter to me. I'm not a rivet counter. If it looks like an RS-3, then it must be an RS-3.

Jim AFAIK it's the original mouldings. When you say the 'roof line' are you referring to the hoods or the cab (or both??) I've got a PhIII shell to do a Nickel Plate one, but I also have a Hobby town plastic kit and a spare MDC/Roundhouse shell knocking about and I don't mind a bit of hacking to get it right! Cheers, Alan

The roof line on the hood is not correct.

I don't know about the roof conture issue. I talked to Steve Stewart back in the day and he said they took messurements from a ex D&H RS on the Anthracite RR for their model. My issue with any of the models is the Atlas version being short in length on the long hood and the incorrect exhaust stack shape.

The Atlas model's window contour is wrong also. Too wide. The Athearn model also has a window problem, it's too tall.

With all the different manufacturers making RS3's you would think one would get it right.
The top of the long hood on the Stewart models is correct for phase 2 and 3. There were no openings as on the Phase 1 RS 3's.
Let's not forget the Narrow louvers on the Atlas model.
