Hello to everyone here...This is my first outing on the forum. While I dearly love Shays, I have been a diesel junkie for many decades (love those Alco's, the RS32 rules). I have several questions regarding a project I am working-on. I am building 2 Espee SD9e's (probably my most favorite engine and Road) in O scale. I was looking at the MTH engine and wondered if the shell is worth using as a starting point. Am also comtemplating the trucks. A set of Atlas SD35 trucks would be ideal but Atlas does not sell them. Haven't found any in brass.

As fate would have it, I ran across a MTH engine about half an hour after the post! My opinion of the MTH shell is YUCK! I decided I had to do a couple in O scale because I just finished a pair of "9's" in HO. For some reason, I cannot have just one of an engine. ;D

I would like to have at least 1 O and 1 G scale engine painted for my road,don't even have to be powered.I wonder who makes good O/G detail parts? Anyone on here know?

The best thing to do is make a master and cast, as I have been doing. Been looking for O scale parts for a while with not much luck, G is a little tougher (for Diesels)! At least the scale(s) are large enough to actually scratch build detail stuff w/o removing important parts of your body!
