While doing research on my newest project, a high hood GP-18, I noticed that the traction motor cables are not easily visible like on later EMD units. I looked at hundreds of photos and could not notice traction motor cables on any first generation unit.
Were they tucked up deep under the frame and nearly invisible? Were they run inside the unit?
Woulds they be worth the effort to add to the model??
THANKS!

Bob, the traction motor cables on first generation EMD locomotives were run inside the frame and only the ends that connect to the motors are visible. For modeling purposes, it is not practical as it could interfere with the movement of the trucks.

Thanks ICG!! That explains why they are not visible in photographs. I'll defiantly leave them off.
One less thing to do!!
