Is there any way to determine with a measurement of length the correct size for a loco fuel tank??
I would imagine that a 1500 gallon tank would be half the length of a 3000 gallon tank....at least that is what easy math tells me??
Is there some type of "formula" to determine it's length from gallon capacity?

I believe you can tell from the stanchion spacing on 40-series and later EMDs. If I remember right its something like 800 gallons between each vertical stanchion. My numbers may be off but its something along those lines. Where's the Blind Dog when you need him?
