I'm pretty sure the Proto is the better shell. If memory serves me, the RSC2 should have the same carbody as the RS2. The short hood should be wider than the long hood. I believe on the Kato, both hoods are the same width. The Proto is also supposed to have a very nice drive. I have a Proto RSC2 that I've never even taken out of the box. I plan on turning it into a privately-owned mine switcher.

I stand corrected. I knew the RS2 and RSC2 were essentially the same thing. The RSC2 just got the A1A to spread the weight out on light duty branch lines. Did Alco ever make a RSD3 (C-C version of the RS2)?

AS ALWAYS,THANK YOU GUYS.MY PROBLEM WITH THE KATO IS THAT REALLY HIGH FAN,OTHERWISE IT RUNS LIKE A CLOCK AND MUS WITH MY ATLAS LOCOS.THE PROTO-WALTHERS HAS A GREAT HEAVY DRIVE AND NICE LEDS,BUT LOOKS A LITTLE CHUBBY.OH WELL.
