I just finished one C&C subase for my Gp40. I've cut away the battery box and equipment box on the Atlas sill. When I place the C&C subase on the sill it looks like the short hood is too wide. I realized I have to cut the section out between the long and short hood but the portion of the short hood that the subase touches pushes the edge of the subbase out past the edge of the sill. What gives?

Brian Banna installed a Cannon setup on this Atlas engine. Are you converting an old ROCO shell or a newer Atlas shell? www.6axlepwr.com/EJE_GP38d2.htmlI installed this Cannon setup on my ATLAS/ROCO SD-35 with no problems.

I realized I have to cut the section out between the long and short hood but the portion of the short hood that the subase touches pushes the edge of the subbase out past the edge of the sill. What gives? The Cannon Sub Bases were designed to work with the Cannon Noses. That said, the sides of the Cannon short hoods are notched to fit OVER the Sub Base, not inside it. That coupled with the Atlas (and many other shells that have the short hood cast as part of the long hood) short hood is too wide. A standard long hood is 72 inches wide. The Short hood is only 71 inches wide (except the high hood which is 72). Your options are: 1) Use a Cannon Short Hood 2) Remove some material from the inside of the sub base so it fits around the Atlas Hood. Dave Hussey Cannon and Company
