i want to upgrade my athearn sd-60 and put traction motor motor cables on etc. does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? the details west ones cannot be bent without breaking them, i also tried the cables from the scale trains sd-40-2 detail kit and they are too brittle. i just want to bring my older models up to scale trains and athearn genesis standards.

Use the DW castings for the straight runs and use lead wire to form the curved sections around the frame. Lead wire is available in various sizes from any fly-fishing/fly-tying vendor. I do not recommend using rosin-core solder for this detail.

I typically use .015 solder to model traction cable and drill styrene scrap for hangers. The solder is quite durable and can easily be bent.
