Greetings all, Looking to make a SW-1 starting with the Walthers new-ish DCC-ready version. Have the unit, Pretty close plows, acquiring the updated headlights. One thing I don't have a good handle on is the added handrails along the outside of the long hood walkways. See photo here: www.bnsf9187.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1944952Looks like somebody welded up same pipe size as OEM front and rear handrails and same height above deck with stanchions of same material. so they are shorter than Smokey Valley stanchions and wrong shape (i.e., round, not formed flat stock) Also, not attached to side of walkway (a-la GP38, -40, etc.), but appear to terminate in a square base pad probably welded to walkway edge. This sort of handrail commercially available? Good news is I can find the correct height from the handrails included in the box, and the shape seems fairly simple to form, but putting it all together is the issue. I've not yet tried to solder brass wire handrails. Contact area between stanchion and rail looks awfully small. Any hints or tips? Could probably build a jig to align while putting it together... Any alternative suggestions? ACC cement? Thanks. Jim C

I believe Custom Finishing #242 EMD Switcher Side Stanchions is what you are looking for.
