Hello, I bought a three pack of Smoky Valley Q fans for a RPP SD60M with a 2 windshield cab. They do not have the two "flat" sides on the base, rather the base is circular. The Athearn SD50 and SD60 and the Proto 2000 SD50 and SD60M all have two flat sides on the Q fans. I was going to file down the fan base and make the two flat sides. Before I do, is there a prototype SD60M that had a circular base Q fans? As well, all the above models except for the Proto 2000 SD60M have the wide flange on the radiator grills nearest to the long end. The C&C instructions with the radiator fans say this is correct. However, the Proto 2000 SD60M has the wide flange facing towards the front of the loco. I gather this is an error? Ian

I found the instruction sheet for the Q fans. It indicates you have to file your own flat spots depending on the prototype. Easy. I placed the Smokey Valley fan onto an Athearn fan back to back lining up the heavy "fins" on the side of the fan and simply filed the flat spot. Ian
