Greetings,
I have a question about ride height on the Athearn blue box GP and SD frames. I’ve done some searching and know that the GP frames are all a bit higher and require milling. Is this just for the GP 40 frames or the GP 35 ones as well? Do the SD frames have the same issue? I also have some SD 40 and SD 45 projects that will use the rail power shell and am wondering if those frames also have an incorrect ride height.
As for the rail power frames,do they have ride height issues that need to be corrected as well? I have some GP 60 projects that will be using the rail power shell and frame.
Lastly, I do not have a mill so I am looking for someone that would be able to perform the milling work.
Thank you, Ted

For simplicity and to save $$$, I learned to live with it...

I have lived with it too, and do not think that the problem is all that noticeable. There was an article in MR many years ago, and likely was in the 1990s. It was about detailing a SP GP60. This guy didn’t mill the frame, but lowered the top of the trucks, where the frame bolster rides.
