Guys I'm looking for info on the Atlas Track Cleaner Engine, Is it worth the money? Does it work? I know nothing about this engine except for $100, I don't want to spend the money if its a POS.
I'm thinking about using the guts to make a rail grinder kitbash like some of the MOW (Loram, etc) companies use. Hank Stephan's mention that he had some ideas on one in the past. So I am looking for info on this project. Also anybody with pictures on this find of equipment would be appreciated. Looking to make a MOW train for cleaning the rails on my layout that I'm in the process of building.

From what I've heard about them, they allegedly perform better than one would think. I vaguely recall someone mentioning that they can or are DCC-equipped, so that's something to look into.

I bought one of these things and I still revert back to my CMX clean machine. I also use a flat car that holds a brass cylinder you can wrap a paper towel around, can not think of the manufacturer right now. I usually run these together. The DCC on the Atlas cleaner is really just to turn it on and off best I remember. It might work a little better paired with a loco running with a ESU decoder since their low speed control is great. I never really got the results I thought I would get with the Atlas machine.
