Hi everyone, I joined so that I could get some help with detailing my one locomotive. I don't really have a layout but I am planning a better one and I have a really bad shelf layout that I've stopped working on because I didn't like the design of it. I plan to make my new layout an in-plant contract switching layout with one locomotive, which is an Athearn NS SW1500. This fictional plant will be located in Eastern PA on my freelance railroad, the South Pocono Railway. This is inspired by the RBMN. Here's a picture of SPR 2213, still needs decals. I think it turned out OK, I just need to do some touchup work. I used acrylics and a brush to paint this so it is a little messy. I plan on leaving the NS side frame stripe and pilot, but maybe I should fill in the black with a Reading yellow?

Welcome aboard.
Looks like your off to a good start, lots of knowledge here so feel free to ask questions.
Sure is nice to have a resource close by to do research at. I've been there once, they have an interesting collection of equipment.

Welcome aboard! Getting involved with a group of knowledgeable hobbyists is always a wonderful idea... a potentially expensive idea, but a wonderful one nonetheless. Since getting reinvested in the hobby after a decade-plus away from it, I've been convinced / persuaded / peer pressured / forced at pointy stick point / etc. to join the NMRA, seek out a model railroad club in my area, convert to from DC to DCC, buy an airbrush, invest in pan-pastels & artists paints for weathering, and repeated told that if I want to learn to scratch build in brass that I shall need a resistance soldering unit as an ordinary soldering iron just won't cut it... As one friend put it, "there are times when I miss the gold ol' days when you'd just throw down a loop of track and let the trains run!" LOL!
Of course, all of that is to say that having the right tools for the job make learning new skills less complicated. So, again, welcome aboard!
