i am trying to build a frame for these with brass as the atlas u23b frame requires too much work. it looks like the rear truck distance is closer to the pilot on the rear. what are the exact measurements? i would very much appreciate more info to make my model dimenshionly correct.

thanks, but i need the exact measurements. i know the truck centers are 36'5, 3' longer than the u23b. on all of the photos of the m420 it looks like the rear truck is closer to the rear pilot than the front. i hope someone can help me as i have all of the brass shapes and really want to get to work on this.

You can look at www.trainiax.net for pretty accurate drawing. I've used them in the past. They are near spot on according to some measurement that I've done in the past for a EMD unit. If you need more accurate dimension that the drawing doesn't give you, make a list of what you need and I will see if I can personnally take measurement at the Exporail museum in Québec. Send me a direct message if so. Frederic

Wheelbase 36'5" front pilot plate to front bolster 10'5" rear pilot plate to rear bolster 9'10 From the December 1974 CN diesel folio book, which was available on the CNR Historical Association (formerly CN SIG). It may still be there somewhere, but I can't find it since the site was reorganized: www.cnrha.ca/CNcyclopediaSteve Hunter
