Gentlemen, here is the latest EMD product to roll out of the shops today. This model may appear to be used and abused, but it's the way these units appeared after many years of faithful service and most of all, it's the way my friend wanted it to look. The model began as a Highliner shell powered with a Stewart chassis. I added all of the detail parts I could find, painted it with custom blended paints, decaled it with custom made decals then went to work trying to make it look as it did in it's heyday. Enjoy!! Bob

Wow, looks like that one has seen a few miles.
Love the chipped/worn paint look, what was your technique?
Looks great!

Mike, I'm sure that there are several folks on this list that think I used a "make-believe" weathering scheme on my model and for those that think this, here is a prototype for the model I built and weathered. Does this photo make it a bit more believable ?? Bob

Just love it Bob. This shows that detailing can extend past just adding parts, and the best way to weather detail is to look at photos of the prototype. Great job and very believable.

The "F" is for fantastic when it comes to this unit and your modeling Bob. That's the fourth F I've seen of yours that gets an A+ for sure.

Bob, that's really well done. Photos make modeling easier and, in your case, show off your talents. Nice work.

Oh I never questioned how believable the weathering was. I was just curious how you got it to look so good.

And I LOVE the cab and ground lights!! The Perfect Touch!! Robert, we've added the ground lights to the last three or four F-units that I've build and they really stand out in a dark room when lit. Rick Bell does all of my DCC and sound work and he does a terrific job. Bob

Wow, looks like that one has seen a few miles. Love the chipped/worn paint look, what was your technique? Looks great! Mike, The chipping away of the paint is not really chipping. What I did, and I followed another modeler's technique, is to place small dabs of a light grey color all over the model, front, top and back. THEN, VERY carefully fill in the gray paint with a color such as Weathered Black or a darker gray making sure not to cover the entire light gray color thus leaving a light colored rim of paint. The process is very time consuming and very tedious because if you apply too much dark color, you lose the chipped paint effect. Bob

Bob, this is a great looking build! You really put tons of detail on this engine and put it in a class all it's own.
Regards, Bobby

Absolutely beautiful work! Can I ask where you found the decals? I'm going to be starting E7 # 100 and I can seem to locate anything for the GM&O cab units.
