KCS White F-Units

I decided to dig into my endless pile of Stewart F-Units and build a few of the KCS units that were painted overall white (easy paint job!!). Upon looking I notices that there were several variations of the white paint scheme too!!

I know some of them were converted to slugs and some were not. My problem is I cannot determine which of the white painted F-units were slug mothers and which ones were not (or were they all slug mothers??). I have seen photos of them with and with out the slug units, and the non-slug units mixed with other power too....makes me even more confused!!

Any help out there?? The KCS is NOT one of my strong points for reference or knowledge!!

I did a little research and only found a small piece of info so far. In the Nov/Dec 1999 there is an article on "Diesel Oddballs" and it states "fuel tanks,engines,and main generators were removed,and rooftop openings were sealed,but otherwise,these slugs retained there orginial appearance".
The picture on the friont of the magazine shows that the 4050 had no fans or exhaust stacks either..no vents on the sides next to the 2 port windows.
I am still going to keep looking and see what else I come up with.....

I was able to determine which ones were slugs and which ones weren't....that part was easy!!

I am confused as to what units were the mother units and if there were any of the white F-units that were not mother units.

I appreciate your help, as I didn't have any of those photos to work from!!

I'd like to build a non slug mother F-unit in white, if there were any. The though of adding all the extra stuff to the rear of the unit, and lack of rear end photos of them so far, makes me want to build a regular white painted unit.
