I am getting ready to replace broken handrails on my P2k gp30 and was wondering if I should use the Smokey Valley set. I have never done this before and really don't know where to start. Thanks Dave

Dave,
You have a few different options here. You could try and procure a replacement plastic set. This would be the easiest replacement, but you would be at risk of them breaking again.
Second, you can buy the smokey valley kit. The all metal construction is nice and robust. Another option is to buy just the stanchions and bend your own wire. Tichy makes great wire for this application. Bending the rails yourself is a bit cheaper, and you will likely have to make tweaks to the wire in the kit anyways. Use the existing rails you have as a guide.
Whichever option you choose, good luck!

Hi Dave I used the Smokey Valley stanchions on my CP Rail GP30, mainly because I'd changed the steps so stock ones wouldn't fit. They look good but are more work, once I'd bent the handrails to shape I soldered them to the stanchions for strength. If you don't need to change the handrails, obtaining a new set would be easier. If you can't find P2K ones would Bachmann do the job? Nick

The B'Mann handrails are more robust, because they're Delrin.... But they're a little thicker. If that doesn't bother you, they are a good option.
