Hi After sitting gathering dust for many months, I've managed to get some work done on a couple of "bigs", a Briggs M-630 kit which will become WNYP 637, and a mix of Atlas and Con-Cor parts which is SIXX 77, one of the former Alco C-636 demo's, recently scrapped at Cohocton NY. The 77 was owned by Cartier for many years and received several modifications as shown here. These include a revised air intake system and a larger capacity radiator which was is scratch built. The trucks are Atlas C40-8, and will get the Alco Hi-Ad features. The excellent front headlight is by Chris Mears via Shapeways. The Con-Cor central air intake section of the long hood isn't attached to the test of the hood yet. Cheers Steve NZ

I'm not sure but the cutout on the fuel tank looks like patch paint on the proto. I can see a thin line on the end of the tank that looks like it's edge and it runs up like the normal tank profile. It looks like there are a couple of thin streaks curving down the black patch area too. Regardless...great modeling!

Great spotting Nick. You have caught me out on a small detail. The cut out is in fact there, and was used to store a pair of rerailers. However, I also used photos of the other C-636 at Cohocton for detail work. You are quite right, the 77 has the front edge of the tank in place, whereas the 3660 doesn't. Looks like I broke one of the golden rules!! There are other differences also. These were very significant locos, and I was very sad to hear they were scrapped. They were Alco's last demo units, but if their loss means others will live longer, then I can live with it.

Here is an update on my SIXX C-636. One photo shows how I changed the GE Dash-8 trucks into an acceptable Hi-Ad truck. The other shows where I'm at with the #77 Cheers Steve NZ
