Hey guys! I'd like to hear from anyone who has had experience and good results with removing the cab windows from a P2K GP30 without breaking them. My plan is to rebuild & repaint one into a BNSF GP39M. At this point I'd like to do a BN/BNSF patch but I might go a step further and do it in the BNSF New Image Swoosh. Any help on the windows would be a big help and greatly appreciated.

Ooookay. I've done this one.
P2K seems to like gluing their windows in, so they're not real easy to get out. But why bother trying to break the glue seal?
If you're going to strip the unit anyway, toss the shell in some 91% alcohol, glass and all. Since the windows were glued in after the paint was laid down, the windows will literally fall right out.

They usually fall right out when stripped in 91% alcohol. I usually end up tossing mine anyway and replace the with AMB glass.

I don't have any experience with AMB glass. Is installation difficult? I too have a couple of P2k GP30's. They are undecorated so the glass is not in place. Once everything is painted though, glass installation may be tedious.

Installing AMB is pretty simple. Just press in place. I think Bob Harpe uses Future floor wax to glue them in place. I usually just press fit them. Install them before painting but leave the masking tape on them. The paint should seal them in place. They really do a lot the give factory cabs the thin-wall look of a Cannon cab.
