So, earlier this month, I posted in the "What's on the bench" thread. As I'm progressing through these models (Athearn RTR P42DCs), I'm slowly adding parts and taking pics. I'll post pics once I remember what my photobucket login info is. As of now, the progress is as follows:
Details West AM-271 detail kit 80% installed on one loco.
Basic TCS T4X decoder with only forward lighting (including flashing ditch lights, and marker lights) on second loco.
Kadee coupler upgrade on all
And light weathering to the more basic locos for now.
All in all, a real easy build, however, the Loksound decoder is a pain in the A$$! It decided to quit on me after two minutes of testing it. I've installed hundreds of decoders, and I've only had one go out on me. Not happy, considering it's my first ESU decoder. That said, I figure it's needless to say that I don't have the programmer for ESU decoders. On its way back to Caboose Hobbies to see what the heck is wrong with it. Hopefully it only lost its programming.
Coast Starlight progress:
ALL cars have been acquired and are ready for service. YES! Even the Pacific Parlour Car. The PPC was decaled using the Microscale MC-4314 decal set for PPCs only and I was able to find not one, but TWO Walthers El Capitan Hi-Level Sky Lounge cars. I had to pay retail for them, but considering how rare these cars are, it was totally worth it! I'll post pics of the PPC as well. Also, in mind for the last Coach car in the consist, I will be adding a basic lighting decoder or a basic lighting circuit to illuminate the rear marker lights, as well.
Stay tuned!
