I remember a few threads talking about how to get a U25C using the Rivarossi shell and kitbashing etc. to get the finished product. BUT...
Rivarossi has released a new U25C with sound no less. It doesn't look like the most detailed thing in the world, but we are detailers after all. Has anyone tried one of these or have designs on getting one anytime soon? This is inspiring for my older time period coal drag of SD40-2s U33C and C30-7s.

I'm kind of in progress on one. I have all the Kaslo parts except for a better drive system then the Rivarossi one...
I'm Trying to find a cheap powered athearn trainmaster since it looks like the Rivarossi would require very little work to fit it (I have a dummy trainmaster)

Back in the early 1980’s or the 1990’s I built six GE U25C’S from 4 MINITRIX GE U28C locomotive shells and repowered MRC, MODEL POWER ALCO RSD15 chassis, repowered with Sagami and Mashima motors for a train club that my hobby shop dealer and I started. The other two GE U25C’S were built using 2 ATLAS / KATO ALCO RSD4 chassis complete with gear assembly, wheels and trucks along with a Undecorated ATLAS / KATO GE U25B locomotive shells. The couplers I used were both UNIMATE non working knuckle couplers and MT’s . One of six may be seen here www.flickr.com/photos/89901604@N07/ on may friends layout. Tom

ETA is still TBA but they're clearly not far off as they've shown off those painted samples.

While that photo is a bit grainy, those locos look really good!
I'm glad I collect N and HO.
