Gathering up the needed pieces parts for a new project, four different L&N C420's, 1305, 1310, 1352. and 1377. Using the fine Atlas models for all four of course. L&N originals 1305 and 1310 will be in grey with the yellow nose block "L&N", ex-SCL, nee-SAL 1352 will be in Family Lines, and ex-SCL, nee-P&N 1377 will be solid grey "L&N". I wil try to post some pics or maybe a buid thread in the Alco Century sub-forum as I go.

What's your plan for the horn on 1310?

Dunno yet. The only thing consistent with L&N C420 horns is their inconsistency . It looks to be a Leslie 3 chime. Cal Scale makes several different ones as well as the mounting bracket. Next trip to my not-so-local HS I'll look them over.

I've been looking myself, and the Cal scale bracket is nice (brass) but the horn is wrong. incorrect layout... Best I've found is made by Minatures by Eric www.miniaturesbyeric.com/itm00099.htmIt's tough to tell, as I can't really see the mainfold to determine if it would work, but at least the trumpet layout is correct. Let me know if you find something better (pewter or brass) - I won't bother with plastic! Brian

If you do 1310 w/ that horn, then the calscale horn with bracket will work for you, as it is the same layout as in the pic you found. Cal-scale #190-577 Leslie Air Horn 3 Chime S3L
d.[] 1306-1315 had a horn layout with short trumpet either facing rear or forward, mid trumpet in center facing forward, and long trumpet forward - all in same plane. The bracket holds the horn at an angle.
Lucky choice on picking 1310, as it at least has an easy horn.
I just replaced the upper light with a gyra light on mine... Which is #1315.
I need to redo the lights, so the upper light is independent of the nose light , and I can program in FX the upper light tone a gyra light.

I was perusing Bowser's site today at work and saw that horn, I agree it looks perfect for the 1310.

Well, after spending my last couple days searching for a brass version of the horn I need to do 1315, I decided to make my own. I've been working on L&N 1315, which is a factory painted Atlas motor, but it neds a bunch of details added to it to make it right, and I wanted to have the cab windows open, and some other thing like chains/hangers, slip indicators, etc on the model. The closest brass/cast horn is still the MBE horn, but I haven't seen one in person to decide if it would be right or not, just a top view, and it has similar layout to the one on this unit. I found a good reference photo on RailPictures.net of unit 1306, and with some color correction, I was able to see the bracket/shape/location of the horn so that I coule model it correctly. I used some .010" brass, and fabricated the bracket, and soldered pin for mounting to cab and the horn. For the horn, I disassembled an Atlas horn (nice bell shape) and drilled out each bell and the bracket so I could remount them in the order/direction using some .010" Tichy wire. I also made my own cab shades, and used a Bowser brass sinclair antenna from one of the RS-36 dress-up kits. Still need to mount the horn and the firecracker antenna, and then weather. after that I will re-assemble and insert the cab glass. Brian

Hello there to both Roadkill and DTInut. Are there any updates or photos of your models to see. Thanks, Andrew.
