Hi, Currently I have two loco builds going on as well as other projects.. I posted the NC&StL GP7 in the early EMD section and feel this one belongs here.. It's my most ambitious build so far and is a bit of a Frankenstein.. I started with a proto chassis that my brother gave me. I replaced the wheels and got it running.. I had the remains of an SP gp9 shell, so it donated the walkway to the cause and it's topped with a front range long hood and an Atlas SD24 cab.. This is my first attempt at chopping a high hood.. I haven't glued it together or started filling in details yet as I haven't found a prototype to model yet.. I plan on adding the usual details as well as canon fans and other GP10 specific details. Thanks for looking!! Stuart

Just a little update... I had a little time, so I worked on the long hood some.. I drilled ladder holes and some lift ring holes and worked on the fans.. I'm really happy with the way the fans turned out.. I had a lot of trouble on my NC Gp7.. That's why I haven't finished it and started painting... I purchased the reamer off of Amazon for $8 with free shipping and it made a world of difference... Stuart

Is the air filter assembly supposed to have a gap between it and the hood? I always though they were flush

Actually no.. There shouldn't be a gap. Those were made for the old blue box athearn so they will have to be cut down.. I just haven't done it yet... I also bought Plano grills and shutters to replace the molded in ones..

Just an update on my GP10. I'm making progress but it is slow. I've cut the air filter down and have been working on the plano grills. I added the extended battery box as well.. In the background is my U33C and a couple of CF7 projects I acquired.. Thanks, Stuart

Just a sug, now is an opportunity to move the new grilles up 30 thou or so to set the plano grilles at the proper distance from the top of the roof. The FR grilles were too small, but the short doors are also too short. If you rest the new grilles on top of the doors, it will sit too low.

Hi everyone, Iomalley, thanks for the suggestion. I have the shutters installed.. I wired the decoder into the chassis.. I shaved the weight for the decoder and speaker. I'm using a digitrax SDXH166D. There is a really good custom scheme for a GP9 that I'm using.. Don't hate me because I'm not putting a high end sound decoder in it.. it's a Budget thing.. $63 vs almost $100... Anyway.. Considering the chassis was put together from parts, it runs surprisingly good on my test track.. I also managed to rebuild a P2k ICG GP30 that I bought off ebay. The motor had been removed.. I put a motor in it and converted it to dcc. It just needs new axle gears.. Thanks, Stuart

Hi, Here's a chassis pic. Don't pay any attention to the light wires.. I haven't gotten to that point yet.. Stuart

Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since I did an update... I haven't done any work to the shell since the last pictures.. I've changed the trucks on the chassis, cut the weight down more and swapped over to a TCS WOW decoder... I wanted the Digitrax decoder for a different project... I also purchased a Kaslo GP10 shell kit that had been started.. I modified a proto chassis for it, but haven't really done anything to the shell yet.. I haven't found a prototype for it..

Hi, Here's a pic of the Kaslo GP10. I haven't started on the shell yet. This is how I bought it.. I modified a P2K chassis to fit it.. I looked through prototype pics today, but haven't decided on one yet.. Stuart
