I long ago couldn't find a good C420 . I was given a model power dummy shell so I modified it quite a bit . First the area on the hoods roof was caved in on the long hood where the hatches are , this is where MP had a post to hold the body to the plastic dummy frame so I heated it but it didn't work so I cut out the hatch area and replaced it with one from , well I forget now but the hatches were the same . Then I cut the notch for the brake ratchet and added the detail part . Then I built the entire frame out of brass I used HO scale brass rails from atlas track for the frame rails and built brass bars across for the bolsters , the rest of the frame is brass sheet and I built the fuel tank out of brass and styrene. I used old roundhouse RS3 power trucks and NWSL wheel sets and powered it with kato motor and flywheels . I used a altas C424 walkway whcih seemed the proper length and looked close enough.

Thank you . I will get it out and take photo's of the drive for a clearer idea . This is just the side photo I took when I was trying to sell what I had . I sold a lot of loco's I had starting in 2006 to 2009 . I did hold onto enough but did sell some I wish I had kept .

I remember building a lot of projects like that back before there were any quality versions being offered. Seemed every time I was 3/4 through the project, a manufacturer would announce a quality production run of exactly what I was attempting. I have RS3's, RS11's, C420's, C628's and C430's in about the same condition as yours that never did get finished.
Mark.
